Description:A modern take on vintage funk from acclaimed 8 piece band Crowd Company. Brimful of energy with a raw edge, catchy hooks/ melodies and tight grooves. The band combine a retro Hammond organ based sound with a virtuoso horn section, soulful lead and harmony vocals. Their recent album ?Now Or Never? features appearances by Alan Evans from USA funk legends Soulive and Joe Tatton from The New Mastersounds. Alan Evans also mixed the album. The band evokes the spirit of 60s and early 70s funk as well as modern day funk jam bands whilst also focusing on strong soulful songwriting . The album was recorded to analog tape at Cowshed Studio, London and Mastered by Paul Gold at Salt Mastering in Brooklyn NY. The album has had airplay across the UK and Europe, including being playlisted on the BBC Radio 6 Craig Charles Show. The album received rave reviews in the music press including: ?Excellent. Past gigs have included venues such as these: The Jazz Cafe,The 100 Club, The Borderline, Brooklyn Bowl, 229, The Troubadour Band On The Wall, Concorde 2, Aint Nothin But The Blues, Rescue Rooms As well as playing headline shows Crowd Company also opened for George Porter Jr of The Meters on his UK tour. In late 2015 the band were asked to open for Daptone Records artists Saun&Starr (Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings). The band have also opened for Alan Evans Trio and The New Mastersounds several times.
