Bernstein, Elmer |
 | Description: | THE LIBERATION OF L B JONES (1969) was director William Wyler's last project. His forty-five year career had generated twelve Oscar...nominations for Best Director, as well as winning three for Mrs. Miniver, and the epic, Ben Hur. The choice of a story about racism in theDeep South was an unusual one for Wyler who had recently completed The Collector with Terence Stamp, How To Steal A Million withAudrey Hepburn and Funny Girl with Barbra Streisand. Although Bernstein is credited with the score, not much of his compositions madeit into the film itself and what you have here are cues that were used in a bar room jukebox. Nevertheless, we feel that these tracksdeserve snatching from obscurity. With their funky jazz and wailing Hammond, they are eminently enjoyable in their own right. We haveadded a later vocal track by co-star Lola Falana. A protegée of Sammy Davis, Jr. she went onto to star in several Spaghetti Westerns and alengthy cabaret singing career. To complement the music for The Liberation Of L B Jones, we have compiled some of Bernstein's musicfor television and the big screen. With highly informative notes by renowned film music writer, Andrew Keech, we hope you'll enjoy thishugely enjoyable album! | | No. of tracks: |
