R.E.M.'s fifth album, an accumulation of everything that the band has done to this point; 'Document.' The album is a fiery statement, and it's memorable melodies and riffs are made all the more unforgettable by it's honest rage. With the pulsing anthem to end all anthems in "Finest Worksong"; the vivid hybrid of melancholy and surging harmonies that swirls around in "Welcome to the Occupation" or the political and metaphorical, almost funk rock of "Exhuming McCarthy". All of which makes this another classic that proves that R.E.M. has always meant business as a rock band!
