What a great 3rd album this is. John Petrucci is arguably at his best here and all hands down, Portnoy has never done anything better than this album.

Most folks think of Images and Words as Dream Theater's magnum opus, but for me this album and Scenes from a Memory represent the best releases from the band. There's something unique in the atmosphere of Awake. Possibly the way Portnoy's drum set is mixed, or maybe in Moore's signature keyboard sound. A valuable item for every collection.
