How do you follow up one of the most groundbreaking albums ever made? For Van Halen, the answer was obvious. Treading the same path the band took to stardom on its debut, and upping the fun factor and musicianship, Van Halen II extinguished any possibilities of a sophomore slump. Leveraging its years of experience as a tight-knit live band, and drawing on material initially recorded for its professional demos with Kiss leader Gene Simmons, the quartet completed the 1979 set in under a month while inviting fans to "dance the night away." Did they ever. Van Halen II's brilliance continues to resonate today. Mastered from the original analog tapes, pressed on MoFi SuperVinyl, and strictly limited and numbered, Mobile Fidelity's UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP set of Van Halen II lets it all hang out. -

Limited 180gm vinyl LP repressing. Digitally remastered edition of this 1979 album by the hard rock quartet. Van Halen II was the band's five times platinum sophomore album. With vocals by the wildly entertaining David Lee Roth, the guitar masterwork of Eddie Van Halen and the irreplaceable rhythm section of drummer Alex Van Halen and bassist/backing vocalist Michael Anthony, Van Halen were one of the late '70s and early '80s greatest rock 'n' roll bands. Mastering engineer Chris Bellman, who remastered the original albums at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios, was enlisted for this new version. In order to produce the original sound the band intended, Bellman cut straight from the quarter-inch tapes.
