Description:Van Halen's winning track record with cover songs can be traced back to its 1978 Diamond-certified debut. Yet the ambitious approach, which showed off the band's diversity, creativity, flair, and fun, took precedence like never before on Diver Down. Featuring five covers, many of which became radio staples, the record sprung from the band's desire to remain relevant while taking a breather after four massively successful records and their respective tours. More than four million copies later, suffice it to say Diver Down achieved its goal. Mastered from the original analog tapes, pressed on MoFi SuperVinyl, and strictly limited and numbered, Mobile Fidelity's UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP set is the definitive version of the 1982 album. -
Limited 180gm vinyl LP repressing. Digitally remastered edition of this 1982 album by the hard rock quartet. Diver Down was the band's fifth album, which ended up going four-times platinum. With vocals by the wildly entertaining David Lee Roth, the guitar masterwork of Eddie Van Halen and the irreplaceable rhythm section of drummer Alex Van Halen and bassist/backing vocalist Michael Anthony, Van Halen were one of the late '70s and early '80s greatest Rock 'n' Roll bands. Mastering engineer Chris Bellman, who remastered the original albums at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios, was enlisted for this new version. In order to produce the original sound the band intended, Bellman cut straight from the quarter-inch tapes.

The early Van Halen remasters so far have been great and this is no exception to the rule. Re-Released on 180g vinyl by Warner Brothers this heavy vinyl is ultra quiet. The cover is made from heavy card stock and the original inner sleeve with artwork is included. Also as an extra bonus the record itself is in an audiophile quality while paper sleeve that is plastic lined.

After four classic albums under their belt, the kings of early 80's hard rock and party excess seem to have a dry run on this, their 5th album: Diver Down. Although it was more or less Warner Bros. fault, the band meant to take a deserved break after years of constant recording and touring and after their very serious and dark album Fair Warning which had only went platinum.

Diver Down so shouldn't have come as such a surprise - Van Halen's albums had come almost two-by-two in terms of character, VH & VHII contrasting with Women And Children First and Fair Warning and so something different was never too far around the corner. Highly recommended
