"Blues Funeral" is a haunting, richly textured album by Mark Lanegan, presented here in CD format and released by 4AD / Beggars Group / Indigo. Rooted in alternative rock with strong shades of blues, dark folk and subtle electronic elements, the record unfolds like a nocturnal journey through melancholic soundscapes and rugged, lived-in stories. Lanegan's unmistakably deep, smoky voice sits at the center of the production, delivering introspective lyrics about loss, redemption and the ghosts of the past. The arrangements range from slow-burning, atmospheric tracks to more rhythm-driven songs, always maintaining a brooding, cinematic feel that rewards repeated listening. "Blues Funeral" is designed as a cohesive listening experience rather than a collection of singles, drawing the listener into a dense, emotional universe that bridges classic songwriting with modern, experimental touches.

The CD edition offers clear, dynamic sound that highlights the layered guitars, keyboards and percussive details surrounding Lanegan's vocals. This format is ideal for listeners who value the physical album as an object, including artwork and liner notes that complement the album's dark, evocative mood. As a whole, "Blues Funeral" stands out as a mature, carefully crafted work that will appeal to fans of alternative rock, blues-inflected songwriting and atmospheric, narrative-driven albums.

Mark Lanegan is known as one of the most distinctive voices of the alternative and indie rock scene. First gaining recognition as the frontman of the Screaming Trees during the grunge era, he later built an acclaimed solo career marked by collaborations with artists and bands such as Queens of the Stone Age and The Gutter Twins. Over the years, he has become a cult figure for his intense live performances and his ability to blend blues, rock, folk and experimental sounds into a unique, deeply personal style. His discography reflects a constant artistic evolution, and releases like "Blues Funeral" underline his status as an influential songwriter and vocalist whose work resonates far beyond genre boundaries.

The album is released by 4AD in cooperation with Beggars Group and distributed by Indigo, a constellation of labels and partners known for their strong, artist-driven approach. 4AD and the Beggars Group have long been associated with innovative, often genre-defining acts in alternative and independent music, providing them with creative freedom and careful, high-quality presentation. Indigo, as a key distribution partner in German-speaking territories, is recognized for its focus on bringing important international releases to a broad audience while maintaining high production standards. Together, these companies ensure that "Blues Funeral" reaches listeners in an edition that does justice to the album's artistic depth and sonic richness.
