"Opus Eponymous" is the debut studio album by Swedish band Ghost, released in 2010 on CD format through Rise Above Records / Cargo. This groundbreaking record introduced listeners to Ghost's unique blend of heavy metal, doom rock, and melodic hooks wrapped in a theatrical occult aesthetic. The album features standout tracks like "Ritual," "Elizabeth," and "Con Clavi Con Dio," which have become fan favorites and staples of their live performances. With its haunting melodies and retro-inspired soundscapes, "Opus Eponymous" set the stage for Ghost?s meteoric rise within the global rock scene.
Ghost quickly established themselves as one of modern metal?s most enigmatic acts, known for their anonymous members led by frontman Papa Emeritus (now Papa Emeritus I). Their music combines classic influences with contemporary flair, earning them critical acclaim and a dedicated international following. Since this debut release, Ghost has gone on to win Grammy Awards and headline major festivals worldwide.
Rise Above Records is an independent British label renowned for championing innovative heavy music since its founding in 1988 by Lee Dorrian (former Napalm Death/Cathedral vocalist). Partnered with Cargo for distribution, they are recognized for supporting underground artists who push genre boundaries while maintaining high production standards.
Opus Eponymous fits practically perfect within the early days of metal, back when Black Sabbath had just hit the scene and were giving way to the rise of this sinister new genre of music. If you were to put Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Colt, and Mercyful Fate in a blender, you pretty much get Ghost.

First Ghost album came as a surprise for many unsuspecting music lovers. A band of nameless musicians featuring the mixed elements of early Mercyful Fate, Coven and Blue Öyster Cult on their debut record. Great beginning indeed.

I think that ghost is one of the best bands for now, their music is really good and bring something different from all of the other bands around as, if you are a fan of pop or hard rock you should get this album and try their music you will be amazed by how good it is.
