Description:Recorded at the Record Plant in New York, Exposure was originally conceived as part of a trilogy alongside Daryl Hallâ??s Sacred Songs & Peter Gabrielâ??s 2nd solo album (both Fripp produced). Exposure was delayed from its scheduled 1978 release date by RCAâ??s postponement of the release of the Hall album (that remained unissued until 1980) & Hallâ??s then managerâ??s insistence that some of his vocals be removed from the album. When the album finally appeared in 1979, its mixture of songs, singers, instrumentals, snatches of speech, audio-vérité sound collages â?? all linked by an autobiographical/diary approach - presented a very different musician from that of the initial King Crimson period 1969-74. The new 2 LP edition consists of the original 1979 release on LP1, while LP2 presents the 2006 third edition on vinyl for the first time. This is essentially, a version of the 1983 remix/1985 reissue with the inclusion of the 3 formerly unreleased Daryl Hall vocal tracks. - FT. DARYL HALL, PETER HAMMILL, BRIAN ENO, TONY LEVIN
This album was originally concieved as the third part of an MOR trilogy with Daryl Hall's solo album 'Sacred Songs' and Peter Gabriel II both of which I produced and to which I contributed. (R.F.) Recorded mainly and mixed entirely at The Hit Factory, New York between January 1978 and January 1979. Track for 'Exposure' recorded at Relight Studios, November 1977. 'Water Music II' recorded at The House Of Music, New Jersey, July 1977. All Frippertronics other than 'Water Music II' recorded at the Fripp Mobile in the Lower East Side, Upper East Side, Hell's Kitchen and the West Village of New York between June 1977 and November 1978. Location recordings mainly at W. 51st and the West Village. Obviously no one location was sufficient to contain all the action described within this record. 24 bit remaster at Super Audio Mastering, Monks Withecombe, Devon August-November, 2005.
