The fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Dio, released on July 21, 1987. Super album! I recommend.

Despite the loss of such a talented guitarist as Vivian Campbell, Maestro Dio managed to get out of this situation with dignity. It was replaced by Craig Goldie, who managed to show himself only from the best side, and the group with him in the composition, recorded another masterpiece of heavy metal. The fourth album Dio continues the glorious traditions of its predecessors; you can hardly find even one weak song on it. Everything was recorded superbly, and most importantly - Dream Evil has a unique "trademark" sound of the group. The enticing atmosphere of mysticism, supported by Ronnie's ingenious lyrics, makes you listen to this disc again and again. It is rather difficult to single out individual compositions, they all shine with the highest quality, but I would like to mention a few. The hurricane opening action movie Night People is instantly remembered for the darkest and mysterious atmosphere and interesting keyboard passages of Cloud Schnell, the title piece is a reference example of the collective's creativity, it ideally combines heaviness and melody. Also memorable are the fast track Sunset Superman with beautiful fantasy lyrics, the very emotional and beautiful song Naked In The Rain and the mysteriously attractive Faces In The Window. Well, the undoubted two masterpieces on the album are the compositions I Could Have Been A Dreamer and All The Fools Sailed Away. The first is a magnificent mid-tempo track with powerful guitar riffs and beautiful keyboard pads in the background, complementing the picture with Dio's divine singing and a powerful rhythm section. Well, All The Fools is, in my opinion, the most impressive work of the band in its entire history. An amazingly tender and sad ballad suddenly explodes with such crazy energy that it completely overshadows all the rest of the material. For one presence of such a work of art, the album can already be given a very high rating. But, fortunately, this disc does not contain a single negative point, Dream Evil is undoubtedly one of the best works of Dio. And also this is the last work of Ronnie of the "classical" period, then continuous experiments with sound will begin. In general, do not miss the chance to get acquainted with this disc, there will be no disappointments. Exactly.

Fantastic album! Too many hits! I think, sound is very close to Rainbow!

I've heard this for the first time on vinyl in the late '80 when I was a younger metal head who listen to AC/DC, Guns And Roses, Iron Maiden and Metallica. I was so much impressed by the title track Dream Evil, a song which have a very dark feelings. And so was the entire album where the voice of Ronnie James Dio (RIP) tell us sad and horrifiyng story about man's fear. Probably the best Dio album.

The fourth studio album of the legendary rocker. I went on sale in 1987, thirty years ago. Ronnie's vocals are unmatched.

I Could Have Been A Dreamer
