2009 release. Vowels is comprised of musician/producer James Rutledge and drummer Chris Walmsley. Like all Rutledge's other work, it's deep on the sonics, meticulously crafted, and truly mesmerizing. Krautrock at heart, the Pattern Prism is a brutal, cosmic melange of sound and rhythm, where Terry Riley-like keyboard motifs entwine with intense, Battles-esque drumming, clouds of audio detritus, gamelan gongs, rewired synthesizers, and clashing feedback guitars.
