My humble opinion is the best record of the band. The progressive art rock and doom metal interface was a great success for the band. Melodies, atmospheric sound - everything is just fine, but there is a voice above them. The vocals on this work, especially in places without instrumental (the beginning of Hope and Suicide Veil) have no analogues for me in the rest of the work of Anathema, or in all the other metal music known to me. The words pain and sadness acquire their unique, pathetic, hopeless coloring, when uttered by Vincent. The album is completely independent musically, only unimaginably distant associations can be made with the late Tiamat. The big difference from the previous works lies in the very energy of this thing - there is no more that apathy and black melancholy accompanying Pentecost III and Silent Enigma, it has a very peculiar optimism, which was then lost to Alternative IV. But the disharmony of the previous works was not lost, this is by no means a set of smooth and sweet songs, which are annoying to listen to from the third time, the pathologically gloomy view of reality only gained a touch of wise understanding.

Masterpiece from the band with the important presence of Duncan Patterson; something strongly deep and different from their recent goth pop style.
