High Resolution 24 bit edition. These original analog masters have been digitally transferred at 24bit resolution, processed using Sonic Solutions NoNoise technology and mastered to 16 bit for CD using prism SNS Noise Shaping.
This edition includes bonus tracks and comprehensive liner notes. It includes all of the original tracks recorded by [a=The Quintet] on May 15, 1953. None of the tracks featuring Mingus' overdubbed bass are included on the CD, as it is widely agreed that the overdubbing damaged the sound quality of the horns and the drums.
The line up printed on the booklet contains a mistake in the track numbers (one track was forgotten and offset everything coming after).
