"Play" is the best Moby album without options. Listening to him involuntarily, you will begin to assume the pose of a silent, balding Buddha who has learned Zen. Perhaps you will be thrown into a crazy dance to "Bodyrock", but the rest of the time, harmony and time will merge into one indissoluble canvas. On "Play," Moby has put all his talent as a versatile composer to work, combining blues, rock, ambient, techno and tons of other styles in one release. And they sound amazingly harmonious. After experimenting with punk and a soundtrack album, Moby is back to doing what he does best. Richard balances his classic slow-piano hymns, synthesizer, almost prayer folk chants and breakbeat in the style of Fat Boy Slim or Chemical Brothers. He uses a huge number of instruments to create an equally diverse music, in which distorted guitars are mixed with the piano, and punk with blues. There is simply no one identical song on the album. For two days I thought that I would write about this album, but nothing came to my mind. So just take this disc out of the dusty pits and make your own impression.
