Another vinyl is pressed as a opaque disc. - They didn't yet have terms like 'alternative rock' when Minneapolis's Husker Du made their mark as one of the 1980's most influential bands. With two skilled songwriters-guitarist Bob Mould and drummer Grant Hart-the genre-bending trio (bassist Greg Norton completed the lineup) juxtaposed hardcore punk speed and aggression with pop-leaning melodies. Add their uniformly thoughtful, introspective lyrics, and you've got this stunning 1984 double-length release, a semi-concept album about youthful rites of passage. Matrix/Runouts are etched."Zen Arcade" is a landmark double LP by the influential American punk band Hüsker Dü, released in 1984 on SST Records. This ambitious concept album tells the story of a young man's journey through hardship and self-discovery, blending hardcore punk energy with melodic sensibilities and experimental sounds. Widely regarded as one of the most important albums in alternative rock history, "Zen Arcade" broke new ground for both its genre-defying music and narrative depth. The record features standout tracks like "Something I Learned Today," "Chartered Trips," and "Turn On The News." Hüsker Dü?formed by Bob Mould, Grant Hart, and Greg Norton?were pioneers of the American underground scene in the 1980s. Their innovative approach influenced countless bands that followed, including Nirvana and Pixies. SST Records, founded by Greg Ginn (of Black Flag), was instrumental in developing independent music culture during this era, releasing seminal works from artists such as Sonic Youth and Minutemen. | | No. of tracks: |
