"Document" es el quinto álbum de estudio del grupo estadounidense de rock alternativo R.E.M., publicado en formato LP por el sello independiente IRS Records en 1987. Este disco supuso un punto clave para la banda al incluir éxitos como ?The One I Love? y ?It?s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)?. Con su característico sonido guitarrero y letras cargadas de crítica social y política propias del final de los años ochenta,?Document? catapultó a R.EM al éxito masivo sin perder su esencia alternativa ni sus raíces universitarias estadounidenses. Fundados en Atenas (Georgia) en el año 1980,R.EM está considerado uno de los grandes pioneros del rock alternativo gracias a composiciones profundas e innovadoras; antes incluso del lanzamiento de ?Document?, ya habían recibido elogios por discos como ?Murmur? o ?Reckoning?. A lo largo su carrera han vendido millones copias alrededor mundo y ganado varios premios Grammy entre otros reconocimientos internacionales destacados . IRS Records fue una discográfica independiente fundada Estados Unidos año1979,jugando papel fundamental impulso artistas emblemáticos escena new wave/alternativa década ochenta ?como las Go-Go's o The Alarm? hasta integrarse posteriormente dentro grupo EMI .
