This album was created by the legendary electric roots orchestra Super Mama Djombo hailing from the former Portuguese colony of Guinea-Bissau, West Africa. This region's struggle for independence was a widely influential cultural movement, and it was an exciting time that inspired musical projects all over West Africa and Europe. Some of the fruits of this movement are now getting attention, including the Orchestra Baobab; Guinea-Bissau and particularly Super Mama Djombo is the reason for the orchestra's success. This remastered compilation presents an amazing musical history to the rest of the world, and it's the only recording of the band, made during a few weeks in Portugal in 1979.

A selection of album songs and previously unreleased material. Recorded early 1980 at Valentim De Carvalho Studios, Lisbon, Portugal. Digitally remastered at Paul Stubblebine Mastering, San Francisco, California, U.S.A.
