Description:Strikes by Blackfoot, released 5 June 1989, includes the following tracks: "Left Turn On A Red Light", "Baby Blue", "Run & Hide", "Train, Train" and more. This version of Strikes comes as a 1xCD. -
Lackfoot's name reflected it's members' Native American heritage, and the group's Southern rock reflected it's beginnings in Jacksonville, Florida. After paying their dues with albums for Island and Epic, the quartet signed to Atco and struck it rich with STRIKES. The 1979 collection was recorded in Ann Arbor, Michigan with Brownsville Station's manager and drummer producing, giving the music additional hard rock heft (there's a great version of Free's "Wishing Well" here). The 10 tracks include Top 40 hits "Highway Song" and "Train, Train," which was written by frontman Rickey Medlocke's grandfather - and is probably the only song ever covered by both Dolly Parton and Warrant. Forty years after it's release, the platinum-certified STRIKES has lost none of it's bite.
Recorded at Subterranean Studio, Ann Arbor, Michigan with Artisan Mobil / Sound Suite Studios, Detroit, Mich. / Bee Jay Studios, Orlando, Fla. Issued in a standard jewelcase with opaque tray and 4-page insert. Made in U.S.A. (on disk face) Printed in U.S.A. (on back inlay and back of insert) Originally released in 1979.
"Strikes" is the breakthrough album by American Southern rock band Blackfoot, released in 1979 on CD format by Atco Records. This record features some of the band's most iconic tracks, including "Train, Train" and "Highway Song," both of which became staples in classic rock radio and contributed to the group's rise to fame. The album showcases Blackfoot's signature blend of hard-driving guitar riffs, bluesy undertones, and powerful vocals that set them apart within the Southern rock genre. With its energetic performances and memorable songwriting, "Strikes" remains a fan favorite and a testament to Blackfoot's musical prowess. Blackfoot was formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969 and quickly established themselves as one of the leading acts in Southern rock alongside bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet. Their dynamic live shows and chart successes?especially with singles from this very album?cemented their reputation throughout the late '70s and early '80s. Atco Records is an influential label founded in 1955 as a division of Atlantic Records. Known for supporting innovative artists across genres such as rock, R&B, jazz, and pop, Atco has played a significant role in shaping modern music history by working with legendary acts like Cream, AC/DC, Yes?and indeed Blackfoot.
