| Description: | From the total of nineteen symphonies that C.P.E. Bach wrote, six are featured on this album. Commissioned in 1773 by Bach's patron Gottfried von Swieten, these works perfectly represent the late 18th c. Sturm und Drang movement in music afoot at that time. They are performed by world renowned harpsichordist and conductor Trevor Pinnock and "his" (The) English Concert, the orchestra he founded in 1972 and led for the next three decades, and with which he pioneered historical instrument performance. London's Henry Wood Hall was the site of these studio recordings, brought to fruition in 1979.Total playing time: 65.07
