Cette édition comprend tous les morceaux issus des sessions originales ainsi que du matériel bonus qui illustre parfaitement la virtuosité technique et l'approche mélodique du death metal propre à Carcass. Fondé en 1985 à Liverpool, le groupe s'est imposé comme un pionnier du grindcore et du death metal mélodique avec des albums majeurs tels que « Heartwork » ou « Necroticism ? Descanting the Insalubrious ». Leur retour fracassant avec « Surgical Steel » a été salué pour son équilibre entre agressivité brute et mélodies raffinées. Le label allemand Nuclear Blast joue depuis 1987 un rôle clé dans la promotion mondiale de la scène métal extrême.
