Description:

The Soundtrack to the cult 80s ABC TV show Sweet and Sour is finally available for the first time in over 20 years and on CD! The show traced the first twelve months in the life of the Takeaways, a young novice band playing Sydney's inner city pub circuit. So powerful was the impact of Sweet & Sour that the fabricated group notched a hit single and a platinum and gold album. On the small screen it was actors such as Tracey Mann and David Reyne belting out the sharply-crafted tunes but in the studio it was the musicians who would soon name themselves GANGgajang, Tommy Emmanuel, Rick Grossman of the Divinyls, and Todd Hunter of Dragon among others. Producer Martin Armiger managed to secure a who's who of Australian artists of the 80s to pen songs for the show, including Sharon O'Neill, Reg Mombassa, Don Walker, Eric McCusker, David McComb, Red Symons, Billy Miller and Roger Hart-Wells. Release includes extensive, historical liner notes by Glenn a Baker.
