Description:Here we pair two early and very limited cassette releases of unexplainable instrumentals by FANTASTIC PALACE. It is utterly unique, and wonderful music! Sounding like good times in a Chrome universe, Wümme era Faust as a circus band, or Super Roots 6 era Boredoms trying to do covers of Byrds outtakes. Songs alternate between sunshine psychedelia and dark alien soundtracks. Even though songs are often short and experimental in nature, rather than sounding like sketches they create fully formed melodic vignettes that feel as if they've been beamed in from a neighboring dimension. This is a first issue/remastered re-issue of early recordings by Fantastic Palace, which it turns out was the solo recording project of Alexander Ross (all other members it turns out were fictitious). Most tracks were recorded on a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder in Jersey City, NJ, between 1987 and 1989 on reel to reel tape deck at the Woodpecker home studio in Jersey City. This stuff's never been on vinyl before (though a later tape release by Ross, 'Grandfather Paradox,' garnered much acclaim when reissued last year). This is a joint release with Audio Dregs and Social Music.
