Description:YoYo Ma is an exclusive Sony Classical artist, and his discography of over 75 albums (including more than 15 Grammy Award winners) reflects his wide-ranging interests. This album is heavily influenced by Astor Piazzola, an Argentine tango composer and bandoneon player. Piazzolla's nuevo tango was distinct from the traditional tango in it's incorporation of elements of jazz, it's use of extended harmonies and dissonance, it's use of counterpoint, and it's ventures into extended compositional forms. The Soul of the Tango album is a masterful work of the nuevo tango, played by Ma's cello and many of Piazzolla's former associates. Released on Sony's Stereo SACD format this album has outstanding Sound Quality! This Hybrid SACD is playable on ALL CD Players!
