But back in the mid-50s he was, for a couple of years, just about the most popular and successful singer in the world, widely known as 'The King Of Calypso'. Indeed, his LP Calypso topped the US?charts for 31 weeks in 1956, and was the very first album to sell a million copies. This unique compilation features all of Belafonte's US?and UK?hit singles between 1953-62, plus some of the most popular sides from several of his biggest-selling LPs during this same period.
