 | | Description: | â?˘ Hailing from Heston in West London, The Bluetones (Scott Morriss bass, Eds Chesters drums, Adam Devlin guitars, and Mark Morriss vocals) arrived on the scene in 1995 with their debut single â??Are You Blue Or Are You Blind?â?. They followed this up with â??Bluetonicâ? and then â??Slight Returnâ?, which reached # 2 on the UK singles chart. The debut album â??Expecting To Flyâ? was released in February 1996 , and went straight to # 1.
â?˘ This 3 LP box set contains the original 1996 album, a 12 track LP of non album A and B sides, as well as the collection of pre fame demos â??The Early Garage Yearsâ?. The box also contains the 12 x 12 booklet from the original limited edition sleeve , as well as a note by 6Music DJ Steve Lamacq.
â?˘ The three LPs are pressed on 180 gram blue vinyl. 3 LPs on 180g blue vinyl in inner sleeves in lift off lid box, with 12 x 12 booklet - 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITIONDigitally remastered and expanded two CD edition. In 1996, The Bluetones released their debut album, Expecting To Fly. It knocked Oasis' What's The Story Morning Glory off the top of the charts in the week the Mancunians scooped an armful of BRIT Awards and signaled the start of a hugely successful career for The Bluetones. This expanded edition includes a plethora of bonus material. There is the complete concert of the band playing at Leeds Town And Country Club as part of the BBC Sound City in April 1996. A joyous gig with the band still riding high on the recent successes of the album and their #2 hit single, 'Slight Return', plus an acoustic version of 'Bluetonic' performed on Lauren Laverne's BBC 6Music show in July 2015, shortly before their comeback gigs. Also included are each band members favorite b-side from the era plus the stand-alone single 'Are You Blue Or Are You Blind?', the band's first hit single to make this a fitting package to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album. The Number 1, platinum album featuring the hits Bluetonic, Cut Some Rug and Slight Return is now re-issued with a second disc of previously unreleased material including demos, live and session tracks. The demos are from the Proper Demo Thing cassette which got the band signed to A&M Records and taken from a copy recently found in drummer Eds? archives.
There is a complete concert of the band playing one of their earliest gigs. Supporting Supergrass in March 1995 at the LA2 in London, the small sister venue of the legendary Astoria venue. It captures the vibrant energy and spirit of a band taking their first steps and the 7 track set features the songs that would go on to become some of their most famous hits.
Additionally, each band member has chosen their favourite b-side from the era and along with the stand-alone single Are You Blue Or Are You Blind?, the band?s first hit single, make this a fitting package to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album.
The 2CD comes in a tri-fold sleeve with new artwork, never seen before photographs, sleevenotes from guitarist Adam Devlin, and contributions from the Eds, Scott and Mark.
