Description: | Coming in hot off the recent Grammy® recognition for Dead Manâ??s Pop â?? Best Album Notes (Bob Mehr), Rhino is set to release a 40th anniversary Deluxe Edition of Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash by Minneapolis band, The Replacements. Sorry Maâ?¦ - the bandâ??s 1981 Twin/Tone debut - instantly heralded the Minneapolis-based indie rock phenomenon's competing tendencies towards indelible genius and bleary, drunken anarchy. With now classic songs including 'Takin' A Ride,' 'Shiftless When Idle,' 'Customer' and 'Johnny's Gonna Die,' the 'Mats' legendary founding line-up of lead singer/songwriter and guitarist Paul Westerberg, Chris Mars (drums) and brothers Bob and Tommy Stinson (lead guitar and bass, respectively) unleashed a shambling, dynamic sound. Loose, live, and brimming with energy, Sorry Maâ?¦ is a lesson in chaos.
This 40th anniversary deluxe edition (co-produced by Jason Jones, Bob Mehr, and Peter Jesperson) documents the bandâ??s formative years including their very first demo tape (recorded in 1979) as well as the legendary cassette that ultimately got the band signed to Twin/Tone back in 1980. From there, a multitude of unreleased rough mixes, alternate takes, and further demos (including Paul Westerberg bedroom demo recordings) document the band at its most fearless. Rounding out the package is a 27 track live concert taken from one of the earliest Replacements live recording in existence (January 23, 1980). This release is in excess of one hundred tracks spread across 4CDs and 1LP (over 70 unreleased). - Recorded at Blackberry Way - Mpls.
