Limited 180 gram vinyl LP repressing. Korda Records presents the vinyl edition of The Ocean Blue's Cerulean mastered from the original archival tapes. Two years after i's self-titled debut album introduced The Ocean Blue's instantly catchy melodies and evocative lyrics to the masses, the band released a sophomore set which included new guitar pop classics from its growing catalog and sound production that brought instruments and atmosphere to the fore. Cerulean eschews it's predecessor's urgency, opting instead for a dozen tracks that create a tangible sense of blueness from start to finish. The Ocean Blue, formed in Hershey, Pennsylvania in 1986, is an American indie pop band that combines melodic guitars and synthesizers. The band's sound may be best described as jangly guitar-based modern rock. Influences include such bands as The Smiths, Cocteau Twins, R.E.M., Echo & the Bunnymen and New Order. The Ocean Blue's earliest shows always consisted of a healthy dose of covers by these bands. To this day, The Smiths and New Order covers still punctuate concert encores.
Recorded at Long View Farm and Blue Jay Recording Studios, Massachusetts. Mixed at The Hit Factory, New York City.
Cerulean is the acclaimed second album by The Ocean Blue, released in 1991 and now available as a high-quality LP from Korda Records. This record captures the band at their creative peak, blending dreamy pop melodies with shimmering guitars and introspective lyrics. Standout tracks like "Ballerina Out of Control" and "Mercury" showcase The Ocean Blue's signature sound?lush, melodic, and timelessly evocative. As one of the defining acts of late '80s/early '90s alternative pop, The Ocean Blue earned critical praise for their sophisticated songwriting and atmospheric production. Their debut album was a college radio favorite, paving the way for Cerulean?s enduring influence on indie music lovers worldwide. Korda Records is renowned for its commitment to quality releases in indie rock and alternative genres; they are dedicated to preserving classic albums while supporting innovative new artists.

Artur K. - 19/May/2020 5 of 5 Stars!
All the good memories from 90s are lavishly reissued for those who missed vinyl version back then. The band has often been criticized for being too lightweight, boring and cliched, but its dreamy, atmospheric sound is easily recognizable, many years later it is even more adorable, bringing back the days of Jangle Pop universe.
