 | Description: | This set compiles both original albums recorded by the great Oscar Peterson celebrating the music of Jerome Kern. Also included is a version of 'Look For The Silver Lining' which was not included on the original LP. - .. SONGBOOKS/ +2 BONUSTRACKS/ 16PG. BOOKLETThis compilation gathers together two previous Oscar Peterson releases along with some bonus tracks - in original form, at first release, the previous releases were;
[m685170] - 1952-53 recordings with Peterson's guitar trio (Tracks 14-24 of this release)
[m293148] - 1959 recording with his drum trio (Tracks 01-12 of this release)
Each of the above releases had the same twelve songs, with the 1952-53 release recorded and issued in Mono, the later release in Stereo, by different line-ups of Peterson's trio.
Additionally included in this release are one previously unreleased track from the 1953 sessions (Track 25), along with two duets, by Peterson and bassist Ray Brown, recorded in 1950 (Tracks 26, 27).
One track from the 1952-53 sessions, 'I Won't Dance' (Track 13) appears here on CD for the first time.
Standard single jewel case, with clear CD tray and 16-page booklet.
Basic label, catalogue number, artist and title info on disc label.
The booklet includes a 4-page 2016 essay by James Young, reproductions of the original liner notes from the previous releases, along with a selection of artist and composer photos, and track listing/notes for this release.
The inside of the rear insert carries a label logo (a five-pointed crown), and notes about the booklet and extra tracks, all of which are visible through the clear CD tray (to the LHS of the booklet area) when the jewel case is closed.
