Dejó tras de sí tres centenares de canciones, creando un nuevo género que fundía el romanticismo del bolero con el poderío de la ranchera. Fue el llamado ?bolero ranchero? del que fue gran maestro. Rodó películas, consiguió una gran popularidad y sus discos se vendieron por millones en México y en los países de habla hispana. En este disco tenemos sus cincuenta mejores canciones, justo a los cincuenta años de su muerte. Desde su primer éxito, ?Llorarás, llorarás?, hasta títulos tan emblemáticos como ?Sombras?, ?Noche de ronda?, ?Cuando vuelva a tu lado?, ?Se te olvida (La mentira)?, ?Vagabundo?, ?Escándalo?, ?Amanecía en tus brazos? o ?Si Dios me quita la vida?.
