A facsimile of the original album release. Originally released in 1980, The Black Album represented a significant expansion of their sound and style. The Capt, Rat and Dave are joined by Paul Gray on bass. Live side recorded - with no overdubs whatsoever! - in front of The Damned Fan Club.
Issued in a single pocket sleeve with a soft sheen finish. Discs held in black paper inners, also soft sheen. Package came shrink-wrapped. Matrix/runout on side C is mistakenly etched D* which has been over etched with a C. Then a second C* added. All runout characters are etched.

The Damned ist sowieso eine der unterschätztesten Gruppen der letzten Jahrzehnte. Jede Scheibe von ihnen birgt das eine oder andere Schätzchen, welches es eigentlich verdient hätte, groß raus zu kommen. Aber vielleicht wollen sie das ja gar nicht. Bei The Black Album ist die erste Platte mit damals neuen Songs wie immer sehr abwechslungsreich und gerade bei den Klaviereinsätzen immer interessant. Anspieltipps in meinen Augen "Wait for the Blackout" als grandioser Opener, oder auch "Dr. Jekyll und Mr. Hyde". Die zweite Live Scheibe zeigt auch Bühnenqualitäten. Eine tolle Platte, daher (und weil halbe Punkte nicht gehen) fünf von fünf (in meiner Sicht 4,5 von 5.
