Digitally remastered and expanded three CD edition of this classic 80's album. This reissue includes the 11 album tracks from original CD release in 1988 plus 31 related bonus tracks and remixes to make this the most complete collection available of Yazz's best known releases. This collection brings together the production and remix talents of Coldcut, The Beatmasters, Youth, Bam Bam, Sound Iration and CJ Mackintosh and Dave Dorrell amongst others. We have also included the non-album top 20 single release of 'Treat Me Good' with the 7", extended version, Three Amigos mix and the Open Heart mix. Other bonus material includes the 7" and 12" versions of the b-side 'Bad House Music', the Juan Atkins remix of 'Dreams', 'I Want Your Love' and 'Treatment'. Remixed versions of the album tracks 'Got To Share', 'Wanted On The Floor' and 'Turn It Up'. The 16 page full color booklet within the digipak casing features an expanded design of the original artwork, extensive sleeve notes written by Michael Silvester and a full UK discography featuring Yazz's front cover images. This project has been made with the co-operation of Yazz.
This is a compilation of the 1988 Yazz "Wanted" album and b-sides and mixes taken from its four main singles. Also included are tracks from the France only 1990 "[m=298370]" release and the 1990 non-album single "[m=16704]" (although reportedly it comes from the second, cancelled Yazz album). "[m=19824]", considered to be Yazz's debut release (she provides lead vocals on the 1988 Coldcut release) wasn't included on the original "Wanted" album and is omitted here as well. The three discs are filled to capacity (from 76 to almost 80 minutes) and the track list is quite comprehensive - but not all released mixes are included, however.
The source for the main album appears to have been the U.S. CD since track 1-9 "Turn It Up" is the slightly remixed version (4:21) and not the original version (4:39) with a slightly longer ending.
Most tracks from the 1989 remix album "[m=16693]" are included. The David Morales remix of "Stand Up For Your Love Rights" (7:57) is omitted, although Morales' shorter 'U.S. Remix' (4:18) does appear (as 1-17). The two live tracks are also omitted, even when the version of "Dream" is somewhat 'remixed' (by Mark McGuire). The 1989 release had no mix titles. On this release all (except 2-11, also released on a 1989 single) have been named 'Remix' (and conversely, all named 'Remix' here are from "The 'Wanted' Remixes!").
Mistakes (or shortcomings) on this version:
- 1-11 (4:07) is edited and appears to have been sourced from the UK CD single, which contains a shorter edit of the track than other pressings of the single. The full mix runs to 4:22.
- 1-14 (2:57) is edited, due to maximum duration of 20 minutes of chart eligible CD singles in the UK at the time of original release, and the source here being the original UK CD. The full mix runs to 4:29.
- 3-5 (6:20) is an early fade, from a VA compilation CD. The full mix runs to 6:36.
- 3-9 is listed as "Stand Up For Your Love Rights (She's Crazy Mix)" but repeats the 'U.S. Extended Remix' (track 3-2).
