The third studio album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth, released in August 1998. My Arms, Your Hearse was widely praised by critics. Steve Huey of AllMusic said that it "flows logically from one composition to the next, and the mostly long songs have enough variation in texture and mood to hold the listener's interest fairly consistently".

The third studio album of the legendary Swedes drew a clear line between early work and later. You can trace the departure from the concept of atmospheric detail in the direction of extreme progressive - the famous two-voice solos that dominated the sound on previous releases disappeared, fast heavy rhythm parts were added, Mikael lowered the tone of his voice. The general mood also changed - the autumn melancholy atmosphere of "Morningrise" and "Orchid" disappeared. Lyrically, the album continued the theme of the previous release (see previous review). Despite the fact that many consider this album to be not the best in Opeth’s creative biography, it is on it that there are invariable hits performed so far - "When", " Demon Of The Fall. "
