Liner Notes: "Original volume produced and compiled by Dave Roberts, bassist with Sex Gang Children, in 1982. The Whip was released in March 1983 on Kamera Records as a new testament to the Batcave Generation. The collection was revived in 1993 by Cleopatra Records in the US and Jungle Records in the UK, updated at that time to reflect the then current state of gothic music. Now, in 2001, we at Hollow Hill have taken nine of the original tracks and combined them with some of our favourites from the '90s. Hence a new look at The Whip."
