Swans are a band with their own unique sound, and with a frontman who is literate (unlike most rock or pop lyricists) this is a quite awesome blend of stimulating and inventive music and lyrics that exemplifies perfectly the Hegelian idea of music as a total withdrawal from spatiality into an inner temporal realm of subjectivity (in this case a harsh, brutal and despairing subjectivity). Music to get totally lost in. 10 STARS

“The Great Annihilator” es posiblemente el disco más accesible y “comercial” de la etapa clásica del grupo (obviando el flojo “The Burning World” claro) y por tanto el ideal para meterse en el mundo de una banda tan indigesta y vasta con una discografía intimidante y extensa en la que da miedo sumergirse.
