 | Description: | Digitally remastered edition of the classic self-titled album by vocalist and violinist Carolanne Pegg, originally released on the Transatlantic label in 1973. Carolanne Pegg first came to attention as a member of the progressive folk-rock group Mr. Fox, who recorded two acclaimed albums for Transatlantic Records. A highly versatile Fiddle player, she ventured forth as a solo artist in 1973, recording one of the most original folk influenced albums of the era, a fine, sometimes dark, example of Acid tinged progressive folk rock. Recorded at Rockfield studios, "Carolanne Pegg" featured guest musicians such as Albert Lee (guitar), Dave Peacock (bass) - later of Chas & Dave, Alan Eden (drums) and Michael Lavelle (cello). In addition to the fiddle, Carolanne also played harmonium and guitar, but arguably the high point of her talents was her unique and evocative vocal style. Featuring stand out pieces such as 'A Witch's Guide to the Underground', the epic 'Fair Fortune's Star', 'Man of War' and 'Winter People', the album is a truly original work. Now highly acclaimed and with original LP copies changing hands for high sums among collectors, this Esoteric Recordings edition is most welcome. The release features a booklet with essay and an exclusive interview with Carolanne Pegg and fully restores the album's original artwork. | | No. of tracks: |
