"Tons Of Sobs" is the debut LP by British rock band Free, released in 1969 under the renowned Island label. This album showcases Free's raw and powerful blues-rock sound, featuring Paul Rodgers' soulful vocals and Paul Kossoff's expressive guitar work. The record captures the youthful energy of a band destined for greatness, with standout tracks like "I'm a Mover" and "Worry." Free would later achieve international fame with their hit "All Right Now," but "Tons Of Sobs" remains a testament to their early talent and musical chemistry. Island Records, founded in 1959, has been instrumental in shaping modern music history by supporting groundbreaking artists across genres such as U2, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Grace Jones, and Amy Winehouse.
On the (FREE) albums personally I found that Tons of Sobs was a little heavier on the blues and Heartbreaker was the closest sounding to pre Bad Company. The other four Free albums had some classics but were a little more mellow and not quite as bluesy. Highly recommended
