Limited 140gm vinyl LP pressing. Rust Never Sleeps is an album by singer-songwriter Neil Young and American band Crazy Horse. It was released on July 2, 1979, by Reprise Records. Most of the album was recorded live, then overdubbed in the studio. Young used the phrase "rust never sleeps" as a concept for his tour with Crazy Horse to avoid artistic complacency and try more progressive, theatrical approaches to performing live. The bulk of the album was recorded live at San Francisco's Boarding House and during the Neil Young/Crazy Horse tour in late 1978, with overdubs added later. Audience noise is removed as much as possible, although it is clearly audible at certain points, most noticeably on the opening and closing songs. The album is half acoustic and half electric, opening and closing with different versions of the same song: "Hey Hey, My My".
"Rust Never Sleeps" is a landmark LP by Neil Young & Crazy Horse, released in 1979 under Reprise Records. This album stands as one of the most influential works in rock history, blending acoustic and electric sounds to create a raw, powerful listening experience. The record features iconic tracks such as "Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)" and "Powderfinger," which have become staples in Neil Young's extensive catalog. Known for its innovative approach and introspective lyrics, "Rust Never Sleeps" captures both vulnerability and defiance?a testament to Young?s artistry. Neil Young is an acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter renowned for his distinctive voice and guitar work. With Crazy Horse as his frequent collaborators, he has produced numerous classic albums like "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" and "Tonight's the Night." Over his career spanning more than five decades, Young has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice?both as a solo artist and with Buffalo Springfield?and remains celebrated for hits like ?Heart of Gold? and ?Old Man.? Reprise Records was founded by Frank Sinatra in 1960 with an emphasis on artistic freedom. The label quickly became home to legendary artists including Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton, Green Day, among others. Renowned for supporting creative innovation across genres from jazz to alternative rock, Reprise continues to be recognized worldwide for its commitment to musical excellence.

Augusto D. - 29/Dec/2024 4 of 5 Stars!
Young and the Horse crafted a great both sides of an album. The first side is an unplugged effort of the sorts, great songs, clean sound. The second side is the Horse at full tilt, with loads of distortion, which makes the listening hard, and probably during the pressing someone turned the knobs way over thirteen, so the sound comes dirty, as opposed to the cd versions. This was supposed to be an imprescindible album, but the levels tweeking have affected its greatness.
