THE SONGS OF STEVE FORBERTThe album compilation is a collection of artists celebrating the music of singer-songwriter Steve Forbert. Steve Forbert is a true American Troubadour. For over 35 years Steve has crisscrossed the nation as a traveling musician making a living singing and performing on the road. Steve had purpose and passion and he played in every kind of venue: on the street, in Grand Central Station, even on a pool table in a Greenwich Village bar. It didn't matter, as Steve was committed to sharing his thoughts and stories through his music. Soon lightning struck and the boy from Meridian, Mississippi was in the big-time. With a hit debut record, 'Alive On Arrival', Steve was on the road and playing in front of thousands. The opening track titled "Romeo's Tune" from his follow-up record, Jack Rabbit Slim, became Steve's greatest hit and the song propelled the album to gold status. As life unfolded and the times changed, Steve continued to stay true to his inner voice. At times it was difficult to process all that life threw at him. Sometimes down, but never out, Steve pressed on. Through his words and music he continued to poetically document his life's journey. Some say that Steve is too young to have a "tribute" record and that's true because Steve has a lot of music left in him. This project is not a tribute but rather it's purpose is to recognize the spirit of the troubadour in all of those artists who follow their life's path like Steve with purpose and passion. |
