However, the listener will soon notice that Tarja takes classical Christmas songs and brings them to a never before seen level, using her unique blend of her classically trained voice mixed with her heavy metal influences. This puts a uniquely sinister spin on traditional songs like ??Amazing Grace?, ??We Wish You A Merry Christmas? or ??Feliz Navidad?, making the listener be reminded of a movie score. Besides covering classic carols, From Spirits and Ghosts also features one brand new Tarja song ?? ??Together?. This song is aligned with the dark sound of the album and embodies the theme of ghosts and mysticism throughout, in a brilliant, Tarja-styled manner, utilizing the sound of a grand orchestra.
The 2020 edition of this fine album adds even more to the perfect dark Christmas spirits. Additional to the previously released studio versions, it also includes a bonus CD packed with electrifying live versions recoded at Olomouc and Hradec Králové in December 2019.
