Description: | Vinyl LP pressing. 1971 release from Basil Kirchin, who was a pioneering British composer who blurred the lines between musical genres. While his career began in the '40s as a professional jazz drummer, in the '60s he started to make field-recordings, painstakingly splicing tapes and slowing-down sounds until the source material would be virtually unrecognizable. Kirchin's career spanned from playing drums in his father's big band at the age of 13, through scoring films, to electronic music featuring tape manipulation of the sounds of birds, animals, insects and autistic children". This album didn't sell more than a handful of copies when it was released, and it was not until much later that their pioneering techniques were recognized.Mixed at Keith Herd's "Fairview" studios in Willerby, Hull, Yorkshire.
