This special edition includes bonus tracks and comes in a deluxe digipak format, making it an essential collector's item for fans and newcomers alike. "Parallels" stands as one of Fates Warning?s most acclaimed works, blending intricate musicianship with melodic hooks and thought-provoking lyrics. The album features standout tracks like "Eye to Eye," "Point of View," and "We Only Say Goodbye," showcasing the band's technical prowess and emotional depth. Formed in Connecticut in 1982, Fates Warning are widely regarded as trailblazers within the progressive metal genre, influencing countless bands worldwide with their innovative soundscapes across albums such as "Awaken the Guardian" and "Perfect Symmetry." Their consistent evolution has earned them critical acclaim over decades. Sony Music/Metal Blade is renowned for its commitment to quality releases in rock and metal genres, supporting legendary acts while nurturing new talent.
This album is considered by a lot of fans to be their best and it's certainly one of my favorites. It's basically more of Perfect Symmetry but with a bit more accessibility thrown into the mix. I'm not the kind of person that complains about bands adding more radio-friendly elements to their music as long as the core formula isn't betrayed.

Before Dream Theater's album Images and Words, you had Fates Warning's Parallels in 1991. Awesome melodies, great technical abilities, a lot of time signature changes filled with really good song writing. I'm surprised that I got turned on to this great band so late. Recommended!
