This is an incredibly well written album that is centered around the theme of Catharsis. Each song ties into the overall theme of catharsis which helps make this a great cohesive collection of songs, and not a collection of singles like most bands do today.
Alexander S. - 16/Jan/2020
The reaction to Catharsis is generally overwhelmingly negative, and Pantera fans who are offended cannot explain it. But deep down in the soul, this is a good album, very bold and diverse, and the variety includes not only idiotic experiments, you really need to judge this release by evaluating the gap between the wonderful acoustic ballad "Behind a Mask" and the monumental action movie " Heavy Lies the Crown ", or the obscene" Catharsis "and the straightforward, almost deathly assertive" Grind You Down ". But, unfortunately, when I think about the newcomer Machine Head, I recall, first of all, ridiculously bad tracks, strained vocals and crazy protractedness of the action. The final score will probably be corrected in one direction or another, but for now I’m rather saddened by the fact that a really interesting record is buried under all this mass of ostentatious lyrical attempts and compositional redundancy.
