Description:Max Fuschetto's new album 'Mother Moonlight' is a cycle of songs dedicated to what Ravel called "the poetry of childhood". The concept is based on the African musical language. The privileged sound place is the piano, even if contaminated in some passages from the electronics and the timbre of the electric guitar and the strings. Mother Moonlight is entrusted to the touch of Enzo Oliva, pianist with a personal and modern interpretation. Digipak (c) 2017 Massimiliano Fuschetto (p) 2017 Hanagoori Music Under exclusive license to Audioimage Mother Moonlight is a series of sixteen tracks dedicated to what Ravel called "the poetry of childhood", written for piano by the composer and oboe player Max Fuschetto with the piano playing of Enzo Oliva. Max Fuschetto - writes Valerio d'Onofrio of OndaRock, one of the most authoritative Italian music magzines - "has succeeded in creating a perfect point of conjunction between modern classical and popular music, between ethnic and avant-garde music, between East and West." Two years after the release of the acclaimed Sun Nà, Max Fuschetto returns with a work dedicated almost entirely to the piano, augmented in parts by electric guitar, clarinet, Dilruba and strings, in the same vein as the works that have made the world of childhood a privileged place of exploration of the deepest spaces of the psyche and time, from Debussy to Bartok, through to The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which, as Lennon later revealed, was initially born as a project dedicated to this incessant search for the memories of the places of his Liverpool childhood. The composer explores a "third way" creating a dialogue between highbrow culture and a more popular one, adding a pinch of the music of sub-Saharan Africa that he studied and loves: it is no accident that Mother Moonlight is made from the African musical language. The pieces are conceived as modern inventions with two voices in which the movement of the different melodic lines are independent of time, of overlaps, of motives. The moon that illuminates the night games is the same at all latitudes, from the dusty clearing that surrounds the African huts to the wiry gardens of the Apennines, and inspires dance movements, Astral Dirges, round trips and return, the vision of diaphanous images and wordplays which don't mean much at first and then suddenly flourish into a song. Thus, the titles are born, words chosen for their sound, for an aesthetic of reference
