 | Description: | Annees De Pelerinage by Vladimir Horowitz, released 9 April 2018.
This version of Annees De Pelerinage comes as a 1xCD+1xDVD. - FRANCESCO PIEMONTESI/INCL. DOC ABOUT BRUNO MONSAINGEONIn the 18th century, instrumental music was largely the preserve of the aristocracy. Many of the nobility furnished their courts with instrumentalists or music ensembles, for the entertainment of the master and of the house and his family and guests. Revolution and Napoleonic wars changed the face of society, redistributing economic power. In the years between the Congress of Vienna (1814) and the Revolution of 1848-49, new ways were found to finance and perform instrumental music. It was during this time that Liszt composed his 'Annees de perelinage,' and his 'Premiere Annee. Suisse.' This release also features the programme music 'Francois de Paul marchant sur les flots," which tells the musical story of St. Francis who asks some ferrymen to take him to Sicily from the Calabrian coast, and when they refuse walks across the sea with only his faith in God. Francesco Piemontesi is a pianist of exceptional refinement of expression, which is allied to a consummate technical skill. Widely renowned for his interpretation of Mozart and the early Romantic repertoire, Piemontesi's pianism and sensibility has a close affinity too with the later 19th century and 20th century repertoire of Brahms, Liszt, Dvorak, Ravel, Debussy, Bartok, and beyond."Années de pèlerinage/Deux Légendes" in the CD+DVD format, performed by pianist Francesco Piemontesi and released by Orfeo, is a remarkable exploration of Franz Liszt's most profound piano works. This edition features both audio and visual recordings, allowing listeners to experience Piemontesi?s nuanced interpretations not only through sound but also visually as he brings Liszt?s visionary music to life at the keyboard. The "Années de pèlerinage" cycles are among Liszt's most celebrated compositions, reflecting his travels and spiritual journey across Europe, while "Deux Légendes" showcases his narrative power and technical brilliance. Orfeo is renowned for its high-quality classical releases that capture exceptional performances with clarity and depth. Francesco Piemontesi has established himself as one of today?s leading pianists, acclaimed for his poetic touch and intellectual insight into the Romantic repertoire; he has performed with major orchestras worldwide and received numerous awards for his recordings. | | No. of tracks: |
