The CD features a big band arrangement of Bartok's 15 Hungarian Peasant Songs. The orchestrators have utmost respect for Bartok's score while transposing the language of the piano to that of a large orchestra. Between the movements however there are various improvisations, which employ elements of contemporary music, jazz, and folk music to comment on Bartók's original ideas.
