Description:Die Musik für "Passages" wurde von Clayton während drei Wochen im Juli 2017 geschrieben. Das Album wurde von Anfang bis Ende der Reihe nach erstellt. Es wurde nichts gelöscht oder umgeschrieben. Was Sie hören, ist reine Emotion und Kreativität. Und das ist es, was das zweite MOUNTAINEER-Album so besonders und wertvoll macht. "Passages" war ein Experiment des Schreibens als Strom des Bewusstseins. Auch der Aufnahmeprozess wurde rationalisiert: MOUNTAINEER verbrachte nur 6 Tage mit der Aufnahme des Albums in den Nu-Tone Studios mit Produzent Ben Hirschfield. "Passages" besteht aus zwei 20-minütigen Liedern, die in einzelne Passagen unterteilt sind. Die Album ist durch mehrere übergreifende Themen miteinander verbunden, konzentriert sich aber hauptsächlich auf die Mühe, das Konzept der Sterblichkeit zu begreifen. Die Band verwendete viele akustische Schichten von Instrumentierung, um ihre klangliche Vision auch bei "Passagen" zu betonen. Xylophon, Klavier, Tamburin, Jingle Bells, Spieluhr, 12-saitige Akustikgitarre und eine Bierflasche als Schlagzeug werden in die Mischung gepfeffert. Bei der Herstellung von Passages wurden keine synthetischen Klänge verwendet. -
Mountaineer was formed in late 2015 in the Bay Area, California by guitarist Clayton Bartholomew (ex- Secrets of the Sky, ex-Lycus), vocalist Miguel Meza (ex- Ashes of American Flags) and guitarist Mike McClatchey, drummer Sean McCullough and bassist David Small (all currently of Lament Cityscape). The band wrote and recorded their debut album over the course of the following 6 months and recorded it at Nu Tone Studios in Pittsburg, CA with engineer Ben Hirschfield at the controls in March, 2016.
