His earliest and strongest musical influence was Django Reinhardt, the famous Gypsy guitarist who, in his final years, had switched to the electric guitar. Presented here is the complete LP The Guitar Artistry of Charlie Byrd, which showcases the guitarist in a trio format backed by bass and drums. PERSONNEL: CHARLIE BYRD, guitar KETER BETTS, bass BUDDY DEPPENSCHMIDT, drums Note: ?Django? is an unaccompanied guitar performance. Edgewood Studios, Washington D.C., 1960.
