 | Description: | Double vinyl LP pressing in gatefold sleeve including digital download.. Secret Messages is the 10th studio album by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), released in 1983 on Jet Records. The record was originally going to be a double album, but this plan was thwarted by Jet's distributor, CBS Records, claiming that producing a double vinyl album would be too expensive; as a result, leader Jeff Lynne would have to reduce it to a single album. It was the last ELO album with bass guitarist Kelly Groucutt, conductor Louis Clark and real stringed instruments, and the last ELO album to be released on the Jet label. Secret Messages, as it's title suggests, is littered with hidden messages in the form of back-masking, some obvious and others less so. This was Jeff Lynne's second tongue-in-cheek response to allegations of hidden Satanic messages in earlier Electric Light Orchestra LPs by Christian fundamentalists, which led up to American congressional hearings in the early 1980s."Secret Messages" is a classic LP by the legendary British rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), released under the renowned label Epic D. This album, originally launched in 1983, showcases ELO's signature blend of symphonic rock and pop with innovative electronic elements. Featuring standout tracks like "Stranger," "Four Little Diamonds," and the title track "Secret Messages," this record captures ELO at their creative peak, weaving cryptic lyrics with lush orchestration and catchy melodies. The production quality reflects Epic D?s commitment to delivering high-fidelity sound experiences for music enthusiasts worldwide.
Electric Light Orchestra, formed in Birmingham in 1970 by Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood, quickly rose to international fame thanks to their unique fusion of classical arrangements with modern rock sensibilities. With hits such as "Mr. Blue Sky," "Livin? Thing," and ?Don?t Bring Me Down,? ELO has sold over 50 million records globally and earned induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Their influence on progressive pop-rock remains undeniable.
