In 1960, jazz critic Nat Hentoff called Charles Mingus to record a number of sessions for the Candid label. He was given absolute freedom on these sessions, and most of the results were issued on the albums Newport Rebels, Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus, and Mingus, all of which are included in their entireties on this 2-CD set. - ORIGINALLY ISSUED AS: NEWPORT REBELS/ CHARLES MINGUS
