 | | Description: | Aviary is an epic journey through what Julia Holter describes as "the cacophony of the mind in a melting world." It's the Los Angeles composer's most breathtakingly expansive album yet, full of startling turns and dazzling instrumental arrangements. The followup to her critically acclaimed 2015 record, Have You in My Wilderness, it takes as it's starting point a line from a 2009 short story by writer Etel Adnan ("I found myself in an aviary full of shrieking birds"). It's a scenario that sounds straight out of a horror movie, but it's also a pretty good metaphor for life in 2018, with it's endless onslaught of political scandals, freakish natural disasters, and voices shouting their desires and resentments into the void., Runningtime: 00:00:00, Arranged By: Julia Holter, Artwork [Album Art]: Rick Bahto, Design: Matthew Cooper (2), Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Engineer, Mixed By: Kenny Gilmore, Executive-Producer [Executive Production]: Cole M.G.N., Mastered By: David Ives, Percussion: Corey Fogel, Producer: Julia Holter, Producer: Kenny Gilmore, Recorded By: Julia Holter, Recorded By: Kenny Gilmore, Songwriter [All Songs Written By]: Julia Holter, Synth, Bagpipes: Tashi Wada, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Violin: Andrew Tholl, Violin, Viola, Vocals: Dina Maccabee, Vocals, Keyboards: Julia Holter, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Drums: Corey Fogel, Synthesizer [Prophet]: Tashi Wada, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Viola: Dina Maccabee, Vocals, Piano, Keyboards [Nord], Synthesizer [Moog]: Julia Holter, Backing Vocals [Background Vocals]: Dina Maccabee, Bagpipes: Tashi Wada, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Drums: Corey Fogel, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Vocals, Sampler [Drum Samples], Synthesizer [Moog], Vocoder [Microkorg], Backing Vocals [Background Vocals]: Julia Holter, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Drums: Corey Fogel, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Viola: Dina Maccabee, Vocals, Keyboards, Harmonium, Keyboards [Nord], Vocoder [Microkorg]: Julia Holter, Words By [Text Includes Words Borrowed From Occitan Troubadour Song "Can Vie Lauzeta Mover" By]: Bernart de Ventadorn, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Vocals, Keyboards [Nord], Sounds [Percussion Sounds], Vocoder: Julia Holter, Bagpipes: Tashi Wada, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Drums: Corey Fogel, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Violin: Dina Maccabee, Vocals, Piano, Synthesizer [Moog]: Julia Holter, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Vocals, Synthesizer [Moog], Keyboards [Nord], Drum Machine: Julia Holter, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Drums: Corey Fogel, Lyrics By [Translation Of A Fragment From Dante's 'Inferno']: Dante Alighieri, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Viola: Dina Maccabee, Vocals, Harmonium, Synthesizer [Moog], Vocoder [Microkorg], Drum Machine, Keyboards [Nord], Guitar, Cello: Julia Holter, Bagpipes: Tashi Wada, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Drum Programming: Cole M.G.N., Drums: Corey Fogel, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Viola: Dina Maccabee, Vocals, Organ, Synthesizer [Moog], Keyboards [Nord], Drum Machine: Julia Holter, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Synthesizer [Prophet]: Tashi Wada, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Violin: Andrew Tholl, Violin, Viola: Dina Maccabee, Vocals, Vocoder [Microkorg], Keyboards [Nord]: Julia Holter, Vocals, Piano: Julia Holter, Chimes, Timpani: Corey Fogel, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Lyrics By [Lyrics Derived From "I Would Rather See" By]: Sappho, Translated By ["I Would Rather See" As Translated By]: Anne Carson, Violin: Dina Maccabee, Vocals, Harmonium, Field Recording: Julia Holter, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Drums: Corey Fogel, Recorded By [Additional Bass Recording By]: Connor Grant, Synthesizer [Prophet]: Tashi Wada, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Violin, Viola: Dina Maccabee, Vocals, Piano, Keyboards [Nord], Synthesizer [Moog], Drum Machine: Julia Holter, Written-By: Devin Hoff, Written-By: Julia Holter, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Violin: Andrew Tholl, Violin, Viola: Dina Maccabee, Vocals, Piano, Keyboards [Nord], Synthesizer [Moog]: Julia Holter, Bagpipes: Tashi Wada, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Drums: Corey Fogel, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Viola, Violin, Backing Vocals [Background Vocals]: Dina Maccabee, Violin: Andrew Tholl, Vocals, Piano, Keyboards [Nord]: Julia Holter, Double Bass: Devin Hoff, Drums: Corey Fogel, Synthesizer [Prophet]: Tashi Wada, Trumpet: Sarah Belle Reid, Viola: Dina Maccabee, Vocals, Piano, Vocoder [Microkorg], Keyboards [Nord]: Julia Holter, Written-By: Julia Holter, Written-By [Portions of "Kyema Mimin" Written By]: Chöying Drolma, Written-By [Portions of "Kyema Mimin" Written By]: Steve Tibbetts, Labelcode DOMI80417.2 (WIGCD417), Phonographic Copyright (p) Domino Recording Co.
